Primavera Collection - UFW 2018

Utah Fashion Week has been one of the best things I’ve done with my 20’s. Each year since 2014, it has pushed me to try new things, and grow as a designer, and I am so proud of my 2018 collection. This year I did something new, and made an entire collection of jewelry to go with each of my dresses. I sourced materials ranging from vintage items, specially cut crystals, and brass stampings, and taught myself to solder, and I am so happy to say that this was one of those times where in trying something new, I discovered a whole new love.

My song for the runway was Carnival of the Animals, R.125: Aquarium by Camille Saint-Saëns

The inspiration:

The Primavera collection is inspired by my recent trip to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and Sandro Botticelli's painting of the same name, meaning "Spring". The painting's homage to millefleur ("thousand flower") tapestries is referenced in the many floral elements brought into the dresses and hand-made jewelry of this collection, along with other natural and celestial elements inspired by the depicted characters from Classical mythology. You may also notice elements inspired by Catholic art of the same time period, specifically in the headpieces made to match the gowns.
